Half-Life 2 (2004)
Let’s start with one of my favorite games. The second Half-Life may not have such a strong influence on the industry as the first part, but made and worked out better. A more intelligent leftist design, amazing music, excellent graphics, interesting characters and a clear story, an incredible atmosphere and immersion in the world.

Already at the very beginning, the game clearly demonstrates the world into which the player enters, sets up interactivity with the outside world and the worked out physics of the game.
Continuation caused a wow effect, like the first part, expanding and improving all aspects of the original.
For me, the second part will always be better than the first because of the reasons mentioned before. Yes, the sequel is easier, but I don’t think this is a problem. This game still remains a reference score in the first person and one of the best games, with which many will agree.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
Not to insert the most highly valuable game on the Metacritic website would be strange. I will not talk about its advantages compared to other parts.
The reason why this part was not just one of the best sequels, but one of the best video games is as follows: Nintendo made a breakthrough game for its time when no one knew how to make games in three dimensions, setting new standards.

Personally, I am not a fan of the series, but not to notice the influence of this game would be stupid on my part.
While the first two parts of the heroes were a good rethinking and complement by the new ideas of the original King’s Bounty (1990), the third part brought the series to a new level. The game has become a standard in the genre of step -by -step strategies. Depth and reigree are still amazing. Many players believe that it is better to make it better, except to improve the schedule and transfer the action to three dimensions, which eventually happened with the fifth part, which is called a remake of a third.
Super Metroid (1994)
The first two parts of the metroid and the first Castlevania laid the foundations of the metroid genre. But it was Super Metroid who became the first truly exemplary game of this genre.
While the series from Konami changed the genre to the hardcore platformer, the metroide developed its own ideas, which bloomed to the maximum of the third part. This part showed what a real metro. The first two parts of Warcraft were released in 1994 and 1995. And although they had an original universe, they borrowed a gameplay from Command and Conquer. This did not make the game bad, but almost did not stand out from the bulk.

The graphics became completely three -dimensional, a distinctive style of play appeared, heroes with RPG elements were added to the gameplay, the plot began to be served not only during the game, but also through amazing core cats, thanks to which the events of the game were perceived more epic. Thanks to this game, Blizzard decided to create an ambitious MMORPG, and Valve received Dota 2.
Grand Theft Auto III (2001)
The series about the great car hijacker can be treated as you like, but these games have a huge impact on industry. And no matter how better the part of the exit, after the third, it was she who became decisive.
But what is the secret of success? Why did the previous units leave such a trace in history?
The matter is working. Rockstar understood that it was not enough to make an open world. Therefore, they filled it with details and various kinds of activities. It was fun and interesting to play the game: to pass the plot, to arrange riots, work on an ambulance, taxi, perform secondary tasks and just study the open world in search of secrets. And this is not all the classes that are present.
The game has become an exemplary sandbox, but unfortunately not all developers still understand what has done the third GTA such.
No wonder this game is called the most important for Rockstar.
